Sea kayaking package in partnership with Parc National du Fjord-du-Saguenay

Itinerary:
Day 1:

Meet up with the guide at the cruise ship pavilion in the La Baie district of Ville du Saguenay. With a little help from the guide, you will pack your personal gear into your kayak, adjust the equipment and warm up to get ready to go out on the water. Lunch will be on-site or, depending on the weather and the time, at the Anse à Poulette (which means Hen Cove!).

PM - Kayak towards Cap à l'Ouest. This rocky point is 18 km long and contains unusual geological formations. As the group paddles along, the guide will give you some tips to help your paddle stroke and overall technique. You will stop for a rest and to see a wooden sculpture of a great blue heron before starting to cross the Fjord towards your campsite.
During the crossing towards the Fjord’s northern shore, in the direction of Cap à Leste, the guide will explain the ins and outs of navigating the Saguenay. You will soon land at your first campsite and enjoy a well-deserved rest at Anse de sable (which means Sandy Cove).

You will spend the evening around the night in a tent.

Day 2:
You will paddle your kayak from Anse de Sable towards the picturesque village of Sainte-Rose du Nord, stopping at the pier situated there. Here you will enjoy a short hike to a panoramic lookout, visit the quaint village and enjoy a picnic lunch. The guide will tell stories about the past and help you understand how the region was colonized and developed.

Back in your kayak, paddling towards your next campsite, you will pass Saint-Basile de Tableau, an old hamlet that has been integrated into the town of Sainte-Rose du Nord because its population was too small. Today, we can still see the church’s bell tower, now part of a private residence, and the remains of the old government wharf. Along our route, we will start to see some harbour seals, and can hope for more and more frequent sightings during the rest of the trip.

Arrival at the beach campsite at Baie Trinité, you will enjoy one of the most beautiful campsites in the entire Parc National du Fjord-du-Saguenay. After setting up camp, if the weather is nice, you can explore the forest around the campsite or go for a swim in the cool waters.

You will spend the night in a tent and spend the evening around the campfire.

Day 3:
Departing in your kayak you will embark on the last part of your adventure from Baie Trinité towards some isolated rocky islands where harbour seals come ashore to rest and sunbathe. Along your route, you might spot some seals as they swim, fish and come up for air. There is a population of approximately 300 to 400 harbour seals in the Fjord-du-Saguenay. The section we paddle through is considered the most untouched and wild part of the Fjord. We will stop and observe the harbour seals sanctuary of Cap Liberté (which usually counts between 25 and 50 seals at any time). Your guide will share their in-depth knowledge about the seals of the Saguenay.

Continuing on towards l'Anse à l'Ermite (Hermit Cove), the group will stop for lunch on the beach. After the meal, you will paddle to the majestic Baie-Éternité (considered one of the 10 most beautiful bays in the world by National Geographic). The guide will tell the story of the statue of the Notre-Dame de Saguenay perched at the top of the sheer cliff of Cap Trinité (one of the highest cliffs in the Fjord-du-Saguenay). You will then head towards your final destination, the beach in Baie-Éternité. The guides who work at our base at the National Park will welcome you.

You will then be driven back to your car in La Baie.
